I am Mário Souto, a freelance writer and PR consultant from Portugal, with over a decade of dedication to the written word in service of extreme metal — black, death, and beyond.
Since 2014, I have been producing a steady body of work spanning press releases, artist biographies, album reviews, and in-depth interviews, collaborating with underground labels, PR agencies, and bands across Europe. My work has appeared in print zines as well as digital publications, and I have been commissioned by labels and artists to craft texts that capture the essence of their music and vision with precision and conviction.
I approach every commission with a deep understanding of extreme metal's underground ethos — its history, its aesthetics, and the uncompromising devotion that drives its most dedicated practitioners. Having followed and documented the Portuguese black metal scene closely, and being personally acquainted with many of its key figures, I bring both insider knowledge and an outsider's critical perspective to my writing.
